BoTW: The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is about a young man named Percy Jackson who undertakes a perilous adventure to prevent the very gods from fighting each other. The catch? Percy is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of oceans and seas.

I actually met Rick Riordan a few years ago. He came to Holbrook Elementary and did a presentation for the students. He talked about The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters, read passages from both books, and shared the cover for his soon-to-be published The Titan's Curse. Rick also spent some time talking about the writing process and how he got the idea for the Percy Jackson series from telling his own kids wild Greek mythology stories.

The Holbrook students loved his energy and enthusiasm and after his visit, his books were more popular than ever.
